The people who watch a long conversation to the end are the ones who already know you. New people usually discover a show through a short video on their phone. That is why it is worth making a few Reels, Shorts or TikTok videos from every episode. Here is how it is done and what it costs.
How many short videos to make from one episode
In an hour-long conversation, you will usually find three to ten moments that stand on their own without context. Three strong videos are better than ten average ones.
How to pick the moments
- The point has to make sense without the rest of the conversation: the viewer does not know who is speaking or what was said before.
- The first two seconds decide whether someone stays. Start with the strongest sentence, not the introduction.
- One idea per video. If a clip has two ideas, make two clips.
- Look for surprising claims, specific numbers, stories and emotion: these are the videos people send to their friends.
- The ending should complete the thought, not break off mid-sentence.
The technical side
- The format is vertical, 9:16. Footage from several cameras lets you crop the frame so the person speaking is always in the centre.
- Subtitles are essential: some people watch with the sound off.
- Usually 30-60 seconds works best. A longer video works if the story holds attention to the end.
- In the description, say which episode the clip comes from and where to find the full conversation.
What it costs
At our studio, a short video costs from €40 + VAT each. More complex ones, with animation and sound effects, are priced by agreement. One Reel is already included in the Full Podcast package (€400 + VAT).
We also make clips from footage filmed elsewhere. You will find all prices and how we work on our editing page.
How to publish them
- You can post the same clip to Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Just adapt the description for each platform.
- Post the clips over the week after the episode, not all on the same day: that way people are reminded of the episode several times.
- Give the guest their clips. They will share them with their audience, and that brings in people you would not reach yourself.
