A conference recording is only valuable if people can actually watch it: the speaker can be heard, the slides can be seen and the picture does not jump around. That takes preparation in advance. In this guide, we set out what to agree before the event, how the filming works and what it costs.
What to agree before the event
- The programme with timings: how many talks, panel discussions and breaks there will be, and when the key moments are.
- Sound: whether we can connect to the sound desk in the hall. That gives the cleanest sound from the speaker.
- Stage lighting: in a dark hall, faces turn into shadows on camera.
- Power and space for the cameras, so they do not get in the way of the audience.
- Slides: whether they will need to be edited into the video later.
- Whether you need a live stream or a recording is enough.
How the filming works
We arrive with an operator, four cameras, and audio and lighting equipment. Four cameras let us film a wide shot of the hall, a close-up of the speaker and audience reactions at the same time. The operator works throughout the event, so decisions are made on the spot, not after the shoot.
All we need from the venue is power. We bring everything else ourselves. You get the recorded footage straight away, and we can edit it if you need.
What you can make from the recording
- Full talks with slides for people who could not attend.
- A short recap of the event to promote it next year.
- Short vertical videos with the most interesting points for social media.
- A live stream to YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn or Microsoft Teams.
